We call on the leaders of Australia to come together to bring confidence, leadership, support and factual information to its people in this Bushfire Emergency. 

Leaders includes experts from the field, including Indigenous leaders, who are supported by state and federal politicians who will take a non-political approach to find authentic solutions to the crisis.

In the short term it is essential to evacuate and keep people safe, to use all available resources to put out the fires, to provide support to firies and their families and to defend property and wildlife.

In the short and mid term it is imperative to support people who have lost loved ones, resettle people who have lost their homes and property and rehabilitate the natural environment.

The short and mid term also includes urgently developing a rational response to climate change and how it is impacting on human lives and the natural world.

This situation requires collaboration and heeding the advice of experts not the opinions of non-experts.

Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures.

This is a human issue not a political one.

It is clear the current leadership in this country is incapable of managing this crisis and urgent change is needed. Now is the time for action. It cannot wait.
