Australia Speaks Out: Raising Questions About Josh Homme's Visa Approval
The issue
Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, American musician, has an active USA domestic violence order against him, for which he was represented at a trial, along with numerous reported acts of violence towards fans and people working in and around the Music Industry. Should he be banned from entering Australia in 2024?
As a member of the public, it is my honest opinion based on the publicly available information I have read (links below), which I believe is truthful to the best of my knowledge, that our Immigration Department needs to review Josh Hommes’ Visa to enter Australia.
Domestic Violence an Epidemic in Australia
At the time of writing, 75 Australian Women have been killed in acts of domestic violence in 2023. Countless others, including children, are being subjected to violence daily at epidemic proportions.
Stopping violence against women and children in one generation is a key focus of the Australian Government. We thought the government was taking a step forward when in July 2023 the government announced that it would no longer allow perpetrators of Domestic Violence and abuse into the country. . https://www.upworthy.com/australia-is-banning-entry-to-anyone-found-guilty-of-domestic-violence-anywhere-in-the-world-rp4
“Australia has no tolerance for perpetrators of violence against women and children," Federal Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs David Coleman said in a public statement. “The message is clear: if you've been convicted of a violent crime against women or children, you are not welcome in this country, wherever the offence occurred, whatever the sentence."
However, here we are in 2024, and we see that reported and alleged perpetrators of domestic violence and abuse are being allowed into Australia - suggesting that the government doesn’t really stand by its zero tolerance stance. It looks like they are willing to bend the line for certain people.
When does Australia finally draw the line?
We are asking that Hon Andrew Giles, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, review Josh Hommes visa status to ensure that all laws have been adhered to. It is at Hon Giles discretion to revoke or deny a Visa.

Anthony Bourdain, “waking up in Bhutan to the Josh Homme @QOTSA shit and still in WTF!!!??!! Phase. Senseless. And a weak ass apology” and “I’m not going to deny that Josh Homme @QOTSA is a friend any more than I’m going to deny that what he did was reckless, stupid and harmful”.
