Super Urgent! Tighten Board Restrictions!

Petition
Super urgent! Your participation is important!
Protect our borders to keep Australians safe!
The origin of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) remains a mystery, anxiety and fear are now spreading globally - the virus can spread rapidly with a high death rate and long incubation period (ranges from 14 to 24 days or even longer); moreover, it can be transmitted by asymptomatic people or people who have been cured but can still carry the virus, and it cannot be absolutely prevented by wearing a face mask….It is terrifying.
The Australian government still plans to open the door for more than 100,000 international students from other countries. This is indeed commendable! However, in the absence of proper epidemic prevention measures, if some of these students are carrying the virus, it will set off a negative chain of consequences and become a secondary disaster to Australia. Even if 1% of the population becomes infected, not only will medical departments lack the capacity to cope, but also medical resources could be exhausted! Our national health system will pay a very big price and our entire economy will be heavily impacted! Schools could be closed, shops shut, and how can small and medium enterprises cope and survive? Face masks have been out of stock in pharmacies for months. When other countries find it difficult to protect themselves in the face of urgent danger, who will then provide aid to Australia?
A few days ago, the Australian Minister of Health sent a chaotic message about the epidemic. On the one hand, he stated the epidemic would spread into a global plague, and on the other hand, he was confident that Australia would be fine. This contradictory statement was questioned by the media. Australia's Four Corners program and Q & A also revealed virus-related issues in depth. Medical experts warned the nation that the epidemic may inevitably spread in Australia, and once it erupts, it may be worse than China. This should be the factual basis for the Morrison government to be highly vigilant.
However, some short-sighted policies in the government and loosening controls on the border to gain the shake of the short-term income from international students is the typical policy response now risking a totally chaotic situation and a chain of reaction, and completely contrary to the interests of the general public in Australia; and if the epidemic gets out of control, there may be further unselective discrimination against certain ethnic groups.
Be safe and plan ahead! We appeal to the Australian Government to put us as the very first priority - ensure public safety. It is just like lifeguards rescuing people from the water. They must consider what their capabilities are and not endanger their own lives. If we want to survive, we must together ensure sterile land! Before it becomes a pandemic, to avoid cross infections; we strongly recommend that the Australian government adopts but not be limited to the following border prevention and control measures:
1. Continue the travel ban to countries that have experienced outbreaks and in which cases are raising rapidly, such as but not limited to China, South Korea, Japan, Iran and Italy, until their country or the global situation has improved or has been mitigated. Considering COVID-19 is not yet fully understood and the likelihood of uncertain factors, Australia’s Government must apply prevention measures with the greatest possible effort, without bias from politics and interest groups.
2. Launch online education for students who are impacted by the travel ban mentioned above. Anyone who is required to be quarantined but who violates the rules should have their visas cancelled or be punished.
3. Establish a new “quarantine zone” in Australia, strictly observe medical symptoms and check every traveler who has been to infected regions. This way it can prevent a large number of people from entering the country and protect Australia from the risks of overburdening limited medical resources. In view of the epidemic trend in countries other than China, the government must take immediate action to prevent people from coming to Australia or from being transferred via other countries experiencing an outbreak or by staying in another country for 14 days.
With the above in mind, after having brought together opinions, advice and information from many people with a breadth of knowledge and many visionary people across various fields, the Alliance of Australian Professionals, together with other organisations who care deeply about the public interest, hereby implore: All Australians support and join the petition and sign it to oppose relaxing travel bans and loosening border controls, to request a tightening of border restrictions, to help the Australian government attach great importance to making the correct decisions in the interests of the country and people!
Yours sincerely,
Alliance of Australian Professionals

The Introduction of Alliance of Australian of Professionals:
The Alliance of Australia of Professionals is the only non-partisan and non-profit professional alliance organization in Australia, encompassing professionals from such fields as law, taxation, engineering and medicine. The alliance shows its sense of responsibility by respecting the facts, paying attention to the public interest and the values advocated by the society. It provides professional technical consultation and settlement of consumer and commercial disputes, sharing of business opportunities and rights protection. Responding to the needs of our community, it offers convenient communication and services in many forms. These include face-to face meetings in community groups, as well as online in our popular WhatsApp and WeChat groups.
It also serves another role. Currently VCAT, NCAT and other state bodies do not have a panel composed of professionals to judge professional cases. Therefore, reform is needed to reduce the number of wrongful convictions, conducive to the survival and healthy development of professional services, as well as the settlement of various commercial disputes. It is both an activist and volunteer organization aiming to help individuals and organizations such as VCAT and NACT provide professional advice in handling professional cases to achieve fairness. We are volunteering our services to help out before the state reforms, like a lawyer providing a legal aid service.
