Thank you everyone for showing up last night and speaking! It takes a lot of dedication and passion to stay through the night, especially when we thought our issue would be starting a LOT earlier than what it actually did. The worst part about these council meetings is how unpredictable they can be on when things start. Everyone got to speak from around 10:30 am to about 2:30 am. We really had an amazing showing. Pro STR supporters outnumbers the other side 2 to 1 or even more. Everyone made great rational arguments supporting STRs. I think everyone made a huge impact last night. After the public testimony was over, the city council closed the public comments part, and then decided to postpone their own discussion and vote on the issue until Feb 23rd. While I think almost everyone - including the city council - didn't expect it to be postponed yet again, it's ultimately probably the best thing that could have happened at that point. No one can make good decisions at 3 am in the morning with all of the different issues that they were about to consider. From what we understand there will be a special meeting on Feb 23rd just for STRs, so it'll start exactly when they say it will since STRs will probably be the only issue on the agenda. They won't be allowing public testimony at that meeting, since that was what this last meeting was for. The Feb 23rd meeting will only be for them to discuss and vote on all of the STR items among themselves. Everyone will be allowed to attend the meeting that wants to attend.
