These remaining pohutukawa of Margan Reserve, as seen in this photo across the West Edge development site in New Lynn, are under threat. The developer wants to construct roads through to Margan Ave across this public reserve and Auckland Council planners can make it happen. We have sought information about the developer's master plan and the potential change of reserve status from recreation to road reserve to serve the interests of the developer. We have been told twice by Council planners that the Whau Local Board will be advised but has no authority to challenge this process. So keep sharing the petition and we will keep informing the community of what is at stake.
