Dear Jeff Bezos,

We're hoping you caught the full page ad that we placed in the San Francisco Chronicle. And the personal letter that followed soon after.

But just in case you didn't, this is a follow up on our proposal of a pilot Amazon Pick up and Reuse Program in Marin County, CA.

We're challenging Amazon to extend the life of its packing materials from single-use to 200+ uses (similar to IKEA totes or reusable CSA farm boxes) and then to re-manufacture the end-of-life materials into new Amazon packing materials. Just like the Amazon logo, an A-to-Z process.

It's a process that keeps packing materials in continuous use. It saves Amazon millions of dollars annually in new packing materials and could significantly decrease shipping costs if more durable and lighter totes are used rather than heavy cardboard boxes.

In turn, Amazon customers and our communities will save millions of dollars in disposal fees and make real progress in our zero waste goals.

What better encouragement to reorder from Amazon! And together, we will forestall industrial and landfill pollution.

We're truly passionate about getting this program underway (as you can no doubt tell!), and eagerly await your answer.

Best Regards,

Carolyn Lund
