College of Marin (COM) has added its name to a growing list of Marin County businesses supporting the Amazon to Reuse Boxes Initiative.
“COM is very supportive of this initiative and [we] look forward to exploring the best strategies to implement it”, says Superintendent David Coon.
Due to construction, he adds, COM’s Receiving Area will be moving in the near future. The time is right.
COM and the Marin Healthcare District (Marin General), the two largest employers in Marin, both support the Amazon Initiative for practical reasons.
This year Amazon will deliver an estimated 4.6 million orders in Marin County alone, including 3.4 million Amazon boxes and 1.2 million plastic mailers. These packing materials have become a financial and logistics burden for Marin County cities, businesses, and residents.
The Amazon Initiative seeks to reduce waste, lower refuse collection fees, and mitigate pollution in Marin County.
