The Egg Harbor Town Board Public Hearing on the proposed Dollar General store was held on Thursday, 2/25/21. The Opposition turnout was very strong. Attorneys, Special Interest Groups, & individual opposers made very strong & compelling cases for denying the project. They verbalized a multitude of legal arguments citing Town Ordinances for driveways & architecture. They pointed out that the Town needs to follow its own Comprehensive Plan. Another dominant theme was intersection safety concerns with facts put forward on the prevalence of speeding, the heavy passing which takes place on Hwy 42, blind spots, and the unique impact of large RVs routinely accessing the campground down the road.
