Stop Egg Harbor DOLLAR GENERAL: Public Hearing is scheduled for 6pm on Thursday, February 25th!
If you don’t want your Egg Harbor/Door County experience to include driving past a 9,100 square foot Dollar General Store with 30 parking spaces and a bright yellow pylon sign on scenic Hwy 42; there are 2 actions you can take to Stop Dollar General from building on Hwy 42/Hillside Road.
ACTION 1. Attend the Egg Harbor Town Board Public Hearing at 6pm on Thursday, February 25, 2021. The Public Hearing is offered 2 ways: virtually with Zoom and by dial in conference call.
o Go to https://townofeggharbor.org/agendas-minutes/ for the meeting agenda & access info
o Robust Public Hearing attendance is critical to stopping this proposal. Any member of the public is welcome to attend; you do not need to be a local resident to participate.
o After the Developer presentation, be prepared to introduce yourself, explain your tie to Egg Harbor, and voice your opposition during Public Comments. Time is limited to 3 minutes per person.
o The Town Board does not make any decisions about the project at this hearing. A Decision will be made at the Town Board Meeting on Monday, March 15th.
ACTION 2. EMAIL and (if you wrote last fall) REWRITE letters/emails to the Egg Harbor Town Board Members to communicate/refresh the strength of your opposition. Namely: Board Chairman & Plan Commission Chairman Paul Peterson, Town Board Supervisors: Dale Wiegand, Steve Schopf, Elizabeth Gauger, Myles Dannhausen; Town Board/Clerk-Treasurer Pam Krauel; Members of Plan Commission: Darrel Lautenbach, Bill Edwards, & David Schartner.

I am opposed to the Dollar General Store proposal for the intersection of Highway 42/Hillside Road in the Town of Egg Harbor for the following reasons:
-does not preserve the rural character of Egg Harbor and would detract from its charm
-people come to Egg Harbor for unique shops, recreation, scenery, etc ; not for a Dollar General which is available at 17,000+ other locations in the US
-this is an inappropriate location; traffic and safety issues will arise
- would negatively impact local businesses
Respectfully, <your name>
