The Issue

Update — Software fix available !!   Feb 9, 2026

Good news ! Available information indicates that an official software fix was deployed in December 2025 by Volkswagen (firmware version P0255T) to address the issue of the clock being stuck at 00:00 on certain MIB2 systems.

According to user reports, this fix is reported to have resolved the issue.

Availability and conditions may vary depending on the vehicle, configuration, and country. It is recommended to contact a Volkswagen dealership. A VW internal "Technical Product Information" (TPI) related to this issue is reported to exist.

This petition remains open so that everyone can access the history and information.

To: Volkswagen Group (VW Customer Service & Technical Division)

We, the undersigned, request that Volkswagen (VW) acknowledge and provide a fix for a recurring issue affecting the multimedia MIB2 infotainment systems in many VW vehicles from 2015 and 2016.

A widespread problem has been reported across several VW models:

👉 The system clock remains permanently stuck at 00:00.

This issue affects vehicles such as:

VW Golf Mk7
VW Passat B8
VW Tiguan
VW Touran
VW Polo
VW Jetta

Despite software updates and resets, the clock cannot be set or updated. This is a malfunction in the multimedia MIB2 infotainment system that negatively impacts user experience.

Moreover, the estimated time of arrival (ETA) displayed by the MIB2 GPS is also incorrect, since it is calculated based on a wrong departure time (00:00). As a result, the navigation system provides misleading arrival predictions, making route planning unreliable.

We call on Volkswagen to:

  • Officially acknowledge the defect
  • Provide a free fix or software update for all affected vehicles
  • Ensure the fix can be installed free of charge at authorized VW service centers
  • Communicate clearly with customers about the repair process

PLEASE NOTE.
For your signature to be taken into account by VW, your car model and the last 6 digits of your car's VIN must be indicated in the ‘COMMENT’ window when signing.

This information is mandatory to demonstrate the issue’s scope to Volkswagen.

VIN : (Vehicle Identification Number)  — your car’s unique serial number, usually 17 characters (starting with VW) , found on your registration or visible on the driver’s side dashboard. Last 6 digits are sufficient.

Example: Golf 2015 - VIN ending in 7FH029
