As a mother of two special needs boys and someone living with a physical disability, the summer scheme programme offered by special needs schools has been an invaluable respite for my family. This programme is the only one in our area that can accommodate my children's specific needs, providing them with both care and tailored activities during the summer months.

The recent decision by the Education Authority to withdraw these summer schemes has left many families, including mine, in a state of anxiety and uncertainty.
