I want to put this petition together so that we can request that former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg voluntarily give some of his money to the people he either incarcerated or indirectly affected during his tenure as mayor.

Former Mayor Bloomberg was the architect of the infamous "stop and frisk" policy, one which has had indelible and permanent impacts on all of NYC.

If former Mayor Bloomberg were to offer up just one billion from his personal fortune, given that the estimated population of NYC is about 8.26 million, that would even out to $121.06 per person. If he gave up ten billion (the floor that I'd like to ask), that would be over a grand per person. Former Mayor Bloomberg could pay the rents of every single person in NYC for a month or more. It's really kind of asinine.

If we refuse to act, then the worst that will happen is Bloomberg will eventually cease living, probably from a heart attack, surrounded by his billions, the worst thing that's ever happened to him being the personal embarrassment from the 2020 Presidential primaries. Mayor Bloomberg needs to give up some of his wealth to a problem he helped exacerbate.

So if you make this petition go viral, we can do something for the impacted communities in NYC. All money should ideally go first to the impoverished people of color that have suffered because of stop and frisk.
