Ask Epic Games to add jam loop lock to Fortnite
The Issue
As passionate members of the Fortnite Jam community, we are committed to helping creativity and collaboration thrive. However, our experience is being harmed by the lack of control over the Jam Loops we play during Festival Jam Stage and other Jam-supported experiences. The current system allows other players to join and disrupt carefully created mixes without permission. This ruins the music, discourages creativity, creates frustration, and contributes to a toxic environment that is driving players away from the Jam community.
Jam Tracks often cost real money, and players deserve the opportunity to enjoy the music they purchased without trolls deliberately interfering with their mixes. We are asking Epic Games to introduce an optional Jam Loop Lock feature that gives every player control over whether others can join their active mix.
Players should be able to choose between two settings:
- Unlocked – Open to Jam: Other players can clearly see that they are welcome to join and contribute to the mix.
- Locked – Listening Only: Other players can listen and enjoy the performance, but they cannot join, replace loops, or interfere with the mix. This indicates that the player wants to jam alone.
A simple icon above each player—green when their loops are unlocked and red when they are locked—would make their preference immediately clear. This would help prevent misunderstandings while allowing players to easily find others who genuinely want to collaborate.
This feature would not take collaboration away from Jam Stage. It would make collaboration consensual while protecting solo creativity. Players who want to mix together could keep their loops unlocked, while those creating a solo mix could lock their loops and still perform for others to enjoy.
We urge Epic Games to implement an optional Jam Loop Lock and visible open-or-locked indicator.
Please sign this petition to support a more welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable Fortnite Jam community where players can collaborate when invited—or listen without interrupting when someone wants to jam alone.
