Ask BC and Environment Canada to stop killing barred owls
The Issue
Spotted Owls are endangered because of logging and habitat loss. When they lose their habitat, the urban adapted Barred Owls move in. But instead of blaming logging and habitat loss for the decline in Spotted Owls, the governments of Canada and British Columbia have decided to shoot Barred Owls and replace them with captive bred Spotted Owls. This is cruel, ineffective, and costs a lot of taxpayer money. The barred owl population is quickly replaced by more barred owls, simply because the loss of old trees and the new barren or urban landscape is not suitable for spotted owls. We would like the killing of barred owls to stop immediately and be replaced with protecting spotted owl habitats.
