Ask Aspyr Media to Port the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Games

Ask Aspyr Media to Port the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Games
The Issue
Aspyr Media just launched their re-released version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Nintendo Switch this week, adding to the list of LucasArts titles they’ve brought to modern hardware for old and new gamers alike to enjoy again. One major absence among these resurrected favorites is the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series, a trilogy of arcade-style action games developed by LucasArts and Factor 5, which focus greatly on the diverse fleet of vehicles and large battles from Star Wars lore. These games were critically acclaimed in their time, and they are often listed among all-time fan favorites.
As a diehard Star Wars fan and avid gamer who especially enjoyed playing Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader and Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike on Nintendo GameCube, I felt compelled to ask Aspyr about the possibility of their team working on brining these beloved games to platforms like Nintendo Switch - and they actually responded!
Here at Aspyr we're huge Star Wars fans and love bringing Star Wars games to new audiences. For us, it’s all about the games we think players are most passionate about and would love to see brought to new platforms. If the demand is there, we’re on board
A few days later, and their tweet back to me has 387 comments, 160, retweets and 610 comments! The thread has garnered attention from several gaming media outlets, including Nintendo Life, GameSpot and Spawn Wave. Even the original director of the Rogue Squadron series, Julian Eggebrecht, replied to the thread, expressing enthusiasm for the idea of porting the games and even suggesting that his studio’s unpublished, Nintendo Wii-intended fourth Rogue Squadron title would enhance the project even further.
So with all this initial hype, and in an attempt to better meet the challenge posed by Aspyr Media, I want to use this petition to better substantiate demand by gamers and Star Wars fans to see these games ported to modern hardware. There’s surely to be many of other challenges should Aspyr choose to pursue this further, but I hope their community can show them the work will be worth it because these games are so well loved!
If you’re so inclined, please sign the petition to ask Aspyr Media to port the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games. If you’re even more enthusiastic about this idea, please share this petition on social media so others see it.
