Dear Friends of Ravenscroft Reserve Initiative,

Congratulations to Asheville GreenWorks for winning #1 Environmental Non-Profit in this year’s Mountain Xpress Best Of! We thank GreenWorks for their ongoing support of RRI and all the work they do to protect, preserve, and strengthen our urban forest.

Our community leaders are seeing the value residents place on our neighborhood trees. In recognition, Buncombe County Commission Chairman Brownie Newman has issued a proclamation stating that October 2020 is Oak Awareness Month – OAKtober.

The first annual OAKtober will be a month-long celebration of our community forest, local non-profits, and businesses who strive every day to keep WNC healthy, beautiful, and fun. Our event partners include Asheville GreenWorks’ Treasured Trees, Yodelbud Invasive Plant Management, the Asheville Nuttery, Eagle Nest Outfitters (ENO), Blue Ridge Audubon Society, Asheville On Bikes, Bountiful Cities, Coven Oldenwilde, and Asheville’s Tree Protection Task Force. Activities are fun, safe, and easy. Perfect for kids of all ages.

For links to OAKtober events, please visit OAKtober Celebrations on Facebook and Instagram.

Asheville GreenWorks will be holding more special events, including an on-line auction where folks can bid on items to support RRI. If any supporters have items or services to donate, please email ravenscroftreserve@gmail.com. Visit Asheville GreenWorks at ashevillegreenworks.org to view the auction, their programs, and other upcoming events.

Many thanks for your ongoing support of RRI and Asheville’s urban forest.
