The Issue

A petition to better the lives of people and boost tourism in North Wales while bringing culture, education, and jobs. With the historic Ruthin School unexpectedly closing this year it is a shame to see such a beautiful building empty and unused. By turning it into an art gallery and museum the building would stay preserved and get the care it needs while remaining a place of learning but in a different way that is accessible to everyone. Not only would such a place provide new jobs in the town once it’s finished, but would generate some construction jobs to turn it into such a place and other businesses would benefit from it as well such as cafes, local shops, petrol stations, and even hotels. This could also be a step towards increasing the access and availability of public transit within Ruthin and neighbouring towns. Currently to visit a larger gallery and museum we have to travel to the Liverpool and Manchester areas which isn’t accessible for everyone. Being directly across from Bryn Hyffryd school could aid in students finding career paths within the humanities sector and generate more interest in arts, artefacts, and history.
