Andrea Berta has been a failure: 

• Failure to deliver key targets. Time and again, Mikel Arteta has identified the players required to strengthen this squad, and time and again Berta has failed to deliver them. A sporting director exists to execute the vision of the football side of the club. On this fundamental responsibility alone, he has fallen short.
• Questionable conduct regarding academy players. Reports continue to circulate regarding our own academy talents being quietly offered to other clubs, with no transparency provided to supporters as to why or under what circumstances. This is not the conduct befitting someone entrusted with safeguarding the club’s future.
• Complete absence of communication with supporters. Since taking up his position, Berta has offered the fanbase no meaningful engagement, no explanation of strategy, and no accountability for decisions made in our name. Supporters deserve better than silence.
• Underwhelming recruitment. The players brought in under his stewardship have largely failed to meet the required standard. Any success achieved this season has occurred in spite of his transfer dealings, not because of them.
• No foundation for sustained success. A sporting director preoccupied with cost over quality does not build a lasting dynasty. He builds a squad of compromises, ill equipped to compete consistently at the highest level.
• Damage to the club’s reputation. His approach to negotiations, repeatedly attempting to pressure players away from other clubs, has left this club viewed with hostility across the footballing world. This is neither sustainable nor becoming of an institution of our stature.

For the sake of the manager, the players, and the supporters who deserve honesty and ambition, this situation cannot continue. It is time for the club to correct course.
