Arrested for Using the Bathroom? Stand with Marcy!
The Issue
Marcy Rheintgen, a transgender college student visiting family in Florida, was arrested at the State Capitol simply for using the women’s restroom — and now faces 60 days in jail and a criminal charge that could derail her life.
She didn’t hurt anyone.
She washed her hands, prayed the rosary, and was led away in handcuffs.
This is the first known arrest under Florida’s anti-trans bathroom law, and it sends a chilling message: that transgender people can be treated like criminals just for existing in public spaces.
We demand that Florida prosecutors drop the charges against Marcy Rheintgen immediately. No one should face jail time for using the restroom. Laws that target and humiliate transgender people do not make anyone safer, they only spread fear, cruelty, and division.
We cannot let this be the precedent. Stand for dignity, not discrimination. Stand with Marcy!
