As the CBSC's mandate is unable to address broad use of subliminal devices, I've tried to raise a red flag with the CRTC.
Complaint file #: 700927
The text of the first email in regards to the complaint:
I'm noticing subliminal devices appearing in current political advertising.
These ads aren't based on sexualizing elements, but instead introduce elements the suggest religious overtones implying demonic or angelic status. Some political ads do simple things like adding in an aura around the politician to imply divinity. Others position them so the background elements give them a horns or a tail. Some of them use twisted version of religious symbols from other cultures that wouldn't be recognized by the average 'European' Canadian, but send messages to other cultures who view them. I come from a multicultural background so abuse of cross-cultural symbolism usage might be more visible to me than most people.
I've attached a few examples. There are many more. One of them can be found by typing 'harper action roads' into Google. Others appear on CBC's website periodically.
There is also some recent research that shows how repeated security warnings can degrade a person's ability to focus on the security issue and reduces cognitive awareness in portions of the brain. I'd suggest that this sort of mental degradation technique is being actively employed against Canadians through continuous warnings of immanent attacks of 'jihadi terrorism'. Suggestions of being beheaded in our beds or attacked at our malls creates a constant state of stress and anxiety that ends up degrading awareness and ability to think clearly regarding issues being presented in public forums, allowing people to be lead like sheep.

I understand that the CRTC is responsible for regulating the use of subliminal devices. I'd like to know how you'd go about addressing these issues.
40 years ago today there was worries that subliminal devices could be used to brainwash the population. These modern abuses represent only a portion of what I've observed over the last few months since I first noticed them cropping up.
