For those who attended the Con Comm meeting on Sep. 1 on the proposal to divide the property at 47 Spy Pond, your presence was felt and appreciated. The next hearing is 3 days away. The developer has submitted new materials since the last meeting, and we expect a very substantive discussion. If you are able to attend again or weren't able to attend last time, please join us on Thursday. As with the previous meeting, it is very important to show up in numbers and make your voice heard. If you are able to join, then once again we ask that you answer this poll: http://goo.gl/wfrtV5. Whether you plan to attend or not, and you haven't already voiced your concerns, please, by 9/15, write to the Con Comm Administrator, Cori Beckwith To make this as simple as possible, please feel free to use any one of the sample text examples below (and alter it as you wish) and send your email to Cori Beckwith before the 9/15 hearing. 1) I write to ask that the Conservation Commission deny Seaver Construction's proposal to build two single family homes on the lot at 47 Spy Pond Lane and to site them deep in the 100' buffer zone of Spy Pond. That is a sensitive area where wildlife make their home, nest, and go about their business. The Con Comm is charged with protecting and stewarding that precious bit of land around the Pond and I believe there should be no construction that close to the shore's edge. Thank you for the work you do to take care of the environment in our town. 2) I write to ask that the Conservation Commission deny Seaver Construction's proposal to build two single family homes on the lot at 47 Spy Pond Lane deep in the 100' buffer zone of Spy Pond. Spy Pond is a treasure in our town and should be protected and preserved for our children and future generations. Please do not allow construction that adds more density to this fragile area around the Pond. Thank you for your work in preserving this natural jewel in our midst. 3) I write to ask that the Conservation Commission deny Seaver Construction's proposal to build two single family homes on the lot at 47 Spy Pond Lane deep in the 100' buffer zone of Spy Pond. I worry about the precedent this will set for our town. If this developer is allowed to split a single family lot into two lots and built two homes, what will others with big waterfront lots do in the future? I know the answer to that: they will do the exact same thing. And, before we know it, the shorelines of Spy Pond will be incredibly dense and we will lose open space and will have ever more negative impact on Spy Pond.
