Talking to a fellow rescuer, I learned of a situation in which a dog was taken from inside a parked car in Russellville, Arkansas, for the crime of being born a Pit Bull type dog. The reason this is scary for me is that my Mom lives in Russellville and we often take our Charlie with us to visit with their dog, Sagan. I seriously doubt that Charlie is a Pit Bull, more likely American Bull Dog mix or possibly Dogo Argentino mix, but that really doesn't matter. He's a big blocky headed dog and apparently is in danger while visiting. These laws infuriate me. I'm sure they bother you too. We MUST work to combat this foolishness. We have many signatures on this petition and there are many other petitions circulating to end BSL. The Arkansas Legislature goes back into session in April. It's time to start our campaign. Call, write and email your representatives. Let then know that we want reasonable, breed neutral dangerous dog/responsible owner laws to replace these knee-jerk ordinances, which are simply a response to media mania and do nothing to ensure the safety of the public. If you care about this breed, please, take the time to find out where your representatives stand on this issue. This is an election year. We have the power to make a change.
