On August 22, 2017, Arizona's parents and human rights organizations, The George Wiley Center, DARE, and Black Lives Matter (Brother Gary) held a protest in front of the RI Family Court. Chief Judge Michael Forte, who is presiding over Arizona's parents criminal case, expressed his discontent over the protest in front of his court. As a result, Judge Michael Forte removed Arizona's parents rights to sign an authorization for an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) and assigned it to a child advocate in a closed hearing without Arizona's parents present. Barrington Public School has been withholding an authorization form which they claim is required prior to permitting an evaluation. For more than 1 year, Barrington has refused to provide Arizona's parents with the authorization form to sign. Barrington has had several opportunities to mail it to Arizona's parents o hand deliver the authorization, but has failed to do so. Barrington has also failed to present the authorization to Arizona's parents in court. Barrington has used not having the signed authorization as an excuse not to pay for Arizona's evaluation and not to place Arizona in an appropriate education program; alleging that they do not know Arizona and require a completed evaluation to place him in an appropriate education program. By law, Barrington is required to have a continuum of education placements. In order to diminish Barrington's liability for not providing Arizona with an education for almost 4 years, the RI Family Court Chief Judge Michael Forte gave the parents right to sign the authorization to a child advocate in a closed hearing without parents in attendance. The State of RI continues to deny Arizona an appropriate education as Chief Judge Forte has not discussed, requested, or required Barrington to provide an appropriate education for Arizona and has continued this outrage. Rhode Island Media turned there backs and refused to report on Barrington's denial of Arizona an education; recognizable faces were Tony Gugliotta and Tim White.
