Hi everyone, A few updates for you. 1. Only 183 people have contributed to our legal fund (and some have donated more than once). The attorney will shortly need more funds (as I only provided a $4000 retainer) and the time will soon come where we will need to hire additional experts for this David vs. Corporate Goliath battle. If you think your utility bills are high now, just wait until the new demand charges kick in along with summer pricing in May. If everyone who signed the petition would kick in at least $10 each, it will allow us to keep fighting. If we lose the attorney, I won’t be able to continue. This is serious. The APS 4th quarter earnings report came out last week. As you’ll see in the attached photo, APS was called out by Ryan Randazzo with the Arizona Republic for admitting to their shareholders that current (higher than anticipated profits) were directly tied to the rate hike - and NOT weather - as they had previously stated. You may have also noticed another $4+ increase was recently added to your bill. That’s from an additional $70MIL hike the ACC just approved last month (that was tied into the original rate hike) for pollution control measures at one of their plants. Of course everyone was too busy talking about the Trump tax cuts that will save APS customers so much money! Give me a break... They also apparently have gobs of money to be throwing at the politicians who keep them all cozy, which is sickening to me, as soon many folks are just trying to make ends meet. It will be imperative that we elect candidates for the ACC in 2018 (2 seats are opening up) who have not and will not except APS dirty money contributions. 3. My attorney met with Gayer and the APS attorney to see if we could find any common ground for figuring out procedure for moving forward. Our next response is due by March 8th. The judge also still has to rule on the motion to name me as representative for everyone who has signed the petition which will be the easiest way to proceed. I’ll keep everyone updated as soon as I know more as far as upcoming rulings or public hearings. 4. I did an interview with Channel 3 On Your Side about our battle, and was informed today that it should air at some point in the next couple of weeks. I’ll post the link as an update once it airs. 5. Thank you to everyone who has emailed me bills so far! I have 2 amazing people who are helping to crunch data and numbers behind the scenes. I’m a word person, not a numbers person. :-) We could use some more bills, so if you’ve lived in your home for a year+ and have been on the same plan, please send me (preferably as a pdf) your October 2016 & 2017 bills, as well as your February 2017 & 2018 bills.
