Our attorney agreed to take a smaller retainer to come on board, but please understand that APS/Pinnacle West is going to make this process as difficult as possible, and we’ll NEED to hire experts too. Our chances of seeing an actual rate hike rehearing will be zero without keeping our experienced attorneys on board. I wish we lived in a world where you could just sign the petition and have your bills be miraculously lowered by the company whose CEO makes more than a million dollars per month, and the politicians who regulate them owed no favors for the $$$ spent on their campaigns. We don’t live in that world though, so our best shot is power in numbers. You can either chip in $10 now, or bite your tongue once the 100+ degree days start and the APS/Pinnacle West stockholders are eating steaks in their 70 degree country club. I’m not super thrilled about the countless hours I’ve already donated to this cause, or begging everyone for money for the legal fund for that matter — but this is an important fight that is affecting thousands of people. APS has 1.2 million customers. Over a million AZ residents live below the federal poverty guidelines and 24% of AZ children are food insecure. Heat related deaths rise every year. I’m just one person who saw a loophole and decided to test it with the hope of helping many people, including people who can’t help themselves.
