The King’s Cross developers have given their reasons for closing the pond 26 October on their website (https://www.kingscross.co.uk/kings-cross-pond-closure), and we have published our response, available here http://twitdoc.com/6NZJ and below. We hope they will listen to our proposals on the opportunities and challenges, to build a future for the pond at the heart of the development.

Our response
Save KX Pond Campaign, representing the users of the pond and residents, on how King’s Cross Pond could thrive into the future at the heart of N1C:
• We want the developers to listen to our proposals to plan a long-term future for the pond, building on the innovative investment and harnessing the vast outpouring of support and ideas for a refreshed future for the pond.
• We see the park and the pond forming a green oasis at the heart of the development. With imaginative promotion and funding there would be more year-round swimming, wider use and access for all.
• The pond has been built to last, and has quickly evolved from being a novelty to a highly valued swimming experience for many locals, regulars and visitors, who appreciate its health benefits, wildlife and beauty. The pond is playing a crucial role in building a community and bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds.
• We believe that everyone would benefit from saving the pond at the heart of N1C.

Showing our love for the pond
In the last few days before the pond is due to close, many have been sharing photos and comments, and enjoying refreshing swims. On Sunday a community event brought in many swimmers, young and old and in between, to make the most of the autumn sunshine.
We have uploaded some more videos, and you can see photos at https://twitter.com/savekxpond / @savekxpond. Do keep sending us your photos, memories and thoughts, savekxpondcampaign@gmail.com.

We've tweeted some more photos of swimmers at the pond @savekxpond, including of
- a group of local children splashing about on the shallow decking and daring each other to get in the cold water.
- Noel Frarey who had two swims in the same afternoon, and described it as bliss.
- Brian Alborough who swam and chilled out in the pool and has shared a video from the afternoon on Facebook.
