Update and invitation, August 22
The Environmental Statement (ES) for the development was published this week on the Planning portal. There is a lot of reading, plus charts and maps which our team will be going through before making a comment, but be assured we'll keep you posted.
The timeline as we understand it now is that the statutory bodies are re-consulted, and have a fresh opportunity to object if they're not happy with the findings of the ES.
We follow other groups who are interested in the plans for the Coastal Path. It may be of interest to know that Greenspaces, a local environmental lobby group, are advertising an open event this Sunday, 28th August, at 2pm on the grass beside Skippingstone beach, beyond the Pickie Funpark in Bangor. Their aim is to help familiarise the wider public with some facts about the variety of wildlife and the flora and fauna along the coast, and the environmental protections that it currently holds.
As long as groups are working towards a balanced outcome, where there's an appropriate location for the cycling infrastructure investment, where the current sharing of access on the path is slow paced and courteous, and the coastal path's natural wildness and walking experience is respected and protected, we can hopefully support and learn from each other.
Thanks, we'll update you with more on the ES soon as we get to grips with its findings, or if you have any experience in planning documents and wish to lend a hand then please get in touch!
