We are delighted to be gaining support from local politicians, with both Independent Alex Easton and DUP Stephen Dunne recently sending in letters of objection to the planning portal, and taking to social media or the local paper to highlight their position. Both are concerned that the public have not had sufficient say in the matter, which is of deep concern, in that decisions on the future of land in public ownership should be overseen by its most important stakeholder, the public. Both have raised questions about seeking alternative solutions, where the Active Travel budget can be spent for a greater long term benefit for all. See our website for the full wording of the MLAs' objections: www.foranotherpath.org/blog
By way of update, our team have been engaging with the applicants for the planning application, and asked for answers to a long list of questions which we will post in more detail on our website. The questions range from the flaws underpinning the initial 2017 Feasibility Study, to the incredibly low number of respondents to the initial consultation whose support is cited as evidence of local appetite for this massive development; around 400 individuals out of a borough of 160,000! - with only just over half giving positive responses.
Please continue to encourage others to email their elected representatives so their voice can be heard [https://www.theyworkforyou.com/ni/ And share the petition with friends and neighbours!
Thanks for all you do,
For Another Path.
