Current Maryland "laws" permit abortion at any stage of pregnancy, up to birth, for any reason. Many are paid for by your tax dollars.

We say, "No more." No more singling out one group of people for lethal discrimination. No more violence against the most vulnerable. No more sanctioned killing of innocent people.

We know that it is wrong to kill an innocent human being. Abortion kills innocent human beings. Therefore abortion is wrong.

We know that human rights begin when humans begin. Every living human being, from the earliest moment of her or his existence, is a person entitled to the same protection of laws as any other person.

We must restore equal protection under law and equal justice under law for the unborn. The 5th and 14th amendments to the United States Constitution and Article 24 of the Maryland Constitution explicitly forbid the taking of life of any innocent person. The Declaration of Independence, which is organic law, proclaims the self-evident truth that all men are created equal (not born equal), and that they are endowed by their Creator with the right to life. Further, it establishes that the first purpose of government is to defend that supreme right. Finally, Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution requires that every government official in every branch swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution, thereby swearing to protect the life of every innocent human person.

Therefore, we, the undersigned, hereby implore you to enact and enforce equal protection under the law for the unborn. The Equal Protection for Unborn Humans Act will restore equal protection and equal justice under the law and will once and for all put an end to the bloodshed of human abortion in Maryland.
