While the campaign for Arby’s to publicly commit to improved broiler chicken welfare continues in the U.S., we ask for your help with a similar campaign in Canada. Chains such as Starbucks and Tim Hortons have publicly pledged to do better for chickens, but Aroma Espresso Bar Canada remains silent on the issue.
Chickens used for meat are raised in near darkness. Many birds are bred to grow so quickly that they are immobilized by their own weight. The animals often suffer constant leg pain so severe that they can’t stand. As a result, they spend almost all their time trapped in their own waste. At slaughter, they are shackled upside down and shocked with electricity before their throats are cut open—all while fully conscious. Many are even scalded alive.
Aroma Canada has failed to publicly commit to a chicken welfare policy that prohibits these practices in its supply chain. Please tell Aroma Canada COO Sam Wadera and Director of Food and Beverage Neil Creighton that you won’t support Aroma Canada while it continues to fail chickens. Sign and share our petition to get the word out that consumers care about animal welfare!
