Arbroath & District Athletics Club is a long established club providing health and fitness, mental well being as well as a platform for many local athletes from Arbroath and the surrounding area for almost 50 years. The club has produced an amazing amount of promising athletes over the years including an athlete that is set to compete in the commonwealth games later this year.

However, facilities at the track at Arbroath Sports Centre have deteriorated so far that coaches have to fill in rabbit holes on the track before training sessions. Long jump pits are in a state of disrepair and the discus safety cage had to be removed as it had caved in!
We would love to get as many people as possible to sign our petition to upgrade athletics facilities at Arbroath to an all weather track where athletes can train for all athletics events and other local clubs, disabled athletes, local schools could all use to train on. Athletics meetings could even potentially be hosted there which would bring in people from other areas to help boost local economy.

The annual county sports championships are always held at Caird Park in Dundee. Why can we not have a facility that we can host our own county championships?  An upgrade in facilities would mean this event could be held here in Arbroath. 
We would like to urge athletes, past and present, members of other local sports clubs, and the general public to sign our petition and support our push to give Arbroath a facility that the area deserves.
