We request that Campbelltown City Council consider extending the existing boundary fence at Ambarvale Public School so that it begins approximately seven metres from the current carpark area. This proposal does not remove or restrict the carpark; rather, it allows the school to utilise the unused land directly adjacent to it in a safe and supervised manner.

Ambarvale Public School is currently limited in the availability of open, secure space for physical education, outdoor learning, wellbeing activities, and general student movement. These constraints affect a growing student population, including support unit classes and early‑stage cohorts who line up in areas where portable buildings sit extremely close to student pathways. Additional space is required to ensure safe, accessible, and developmentally appropriate environments for all students.

By adjusting the fence line to begin seven metres from the carpark, the school would be able to transform this under‑utilised strip of land into a supervised, multi‑purpose zone during school hours and designated activity times.

This area could support:

• Physical education and structured wellbeing activities
• Outdoor learning and flexible classroom extensions
• Additional space for support units and specialised programs
• Safer morning and afternoon student flow
• School events, after‑school programs, and community initiatives, which include vacation care during the school holidays.
• Allows the school to run after-school activities where we are able to promote student engagement for sporting activities and get them off devices.

At present, this land remains vacant and has become a site for rubbish dumping and e‑bike use.  This rubbish is broken glass, drug paraphernalia, construction waste that’s been dumped and general rubbish. This is not appropriate for the entrance of a public school and does not reflect the standards expected for a community education facility. Repurposing this space would significantly improve the safety, appearance, and functionality of the school’s entryway while maintaining full access to the carpark.

The proposed fence extension would also support improved traffic and safety management, reduce congestion, and ensure that the area is secure and supervised during use. Most importantly, it would provide students with the space they need to learn, play, and thrive, supporting both immediate requirements and the long‑term growth of the school community.

We urge Campbelltown City Council to take action to extend the school fence to begin seven metres from the carpark boundary. This initiative represents a meaningful investment in the well-being, safety, and educational experience of the children of Ambarvale, and in the broader community that supports them.
