The Issue

Larry Kerr, Chairman of the Utah Agent Orange Veterans Foundation (UAOVF), passionately leads efforts to honor veterans affected by Agent Orange. The UAOVF has a noble mission to erect a dedicated memorial in Layton Commons Park, next to the revered replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Despite their ongoing efforts, authorization from the Layton City Council remains pending, placing the completion of this important tribute in jeopardy.

For more than a year, the UAOVF has tirelessly gathered donations for this heartfelt cause. They aim to pay tribute to the brave individuals whose lives were irrevocably changed by the exposure to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. Having already secured a considerable amount of funding and purchased parts of the memorial, the foundation intends to dedicate it on an emotionally significant day – Veterans Day.

Positioning this memorial in Layton Commons Park is of profound importance. It would not only serve as a solemn place of reflection and remembrance for veterans and their families but would also offer visitors and residents a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our service members.

The Vietnam War left countless veterans battling health issues and, for many, receiving acknowledgement for their suffering remained elusive. The Agent Orange Memorial would stand as a lasting testament to their resilience and sacrifice, ensuring their stories and struggles are forever acknowledged.

Signing this petition means standing with Larry Kerr and the UAOVF in urging the Layton City Council to authorize the placement of this memorial in Layton Commons Park. Let us honor our veterans in the most meaningful way possible. Your signature can help make this tribute a reality.
