These days, everybody uses plastic.  Plastic bags, plastic water bottles, you get the idea.  Where does plastic come from?  One word: oil.  When this gets into water, or any ecosystem really, it does a lot of damage.  If we use less plastic, or get stores and restaurants to stop giving out as much plastic, we can help the environment a lot.

Have you heard about higher water levels, or polluted air?  Maybe someone mentioned severe weather?  These are some of the results of global warming.  Global warming is caused when we burn fuel that isn't eco friendly, like fossil fuels.  If we can use less of this type of energy, then we can decrease global warming.

Before you go cut down a tree, think about what happens.  If there were no more trees, earth would be a wasteland.  Trees, and other plants, absorb carbon dioxide, which we aren't able to breath.  They also release oxygen, which we need to survive.  That means that without trees, we couldnt survive.  Now, i'm not saying we shouldn't use any trees at all, but if we use less, it would help us, animals, and the environment.

Some ways we can help with these problems are:
1. Use reusable water bottles and bags

2. Buy electricity from a company that uses an eco friendly source of energy, for example solar power.
3. Turn down the thermostat during the winter, and use blankets and jackets for heat instead
4. Raise awareness.  Tell others so people know how to take action.

5. Pick up any litter you see.

6. Hold events like clean-ups where people pick up trash that was left on the ground.  You could even put an incentive so people are more willing to do it.
