Petition to have no-detriment exams at the University of Glasgow

The Issue

We are calling on the University of Glasgow to implement a no-detriment policy for end of year exams, this provides a "safety net" for students during these unprecedented circumstances. Many students are in the position where they will have limited access to good/working wifi, laptops or other facilities that are essential for the upcoming exams. Providing this safety net ensures no student is disadvantaged by elements that are outside their control.

This policy is in line with other UK Universities, such as Exeter and Edinburgh, and ensures consistency across UK higher education institutions. We believe this is the fairest way to conduct these exams.

As is the case for other UK universities students will still be expected to pass the exam but the result can only positively impact their grade.

During these exceptional times many students are feeling very anxious and stressed, limited access to resources such as textbooks and other library resources has only added to this. The limited teaching time for some students in the last few weeks has had a significant impact on students learning potential too. We want to work with the university to ensure these exams implemented fairly and that no student is disadvantaged.
