Our lungs is burning! Are the media and politicians ignorant? It's high time to save Amazon
The Issue
The Amazon forest is said to produce about 20% of the global oxygen and helps as a buffer by taking in 35% of the global CO2 emissions. The current President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro has planned to deforest 25% of the Brazilian Amazon and use the land for Beef production and agriculture as it's a mean for economic growth as the country is facing recession. But just by thinking about the short term benefits, the country is increasing the carbon footprint of the world. An important point to be noted is that the Amazon is home to some of the most endangered and listed species of flora and fauna which adds up to the biological diversity of the region. The Amazon houses some of the last non-contacted tribes who mostly depend on the forest for their livelihood. So it becomes not just the responsibility of Brazil, but all the Amazonian countries to take care of their biodiversity. As forest fires have taken most part of the forest to ashes, and the political blame game is on full swing. It's not the organisations that suffer, but the common people who's life is taken for granted. Climate change is for real and many parts of the world suffers from the extensive cause of this change, It's one of the reason for the slow decline in global economy and may also lead to future catastrophe. This issue of forest fire in Amazon must not be considered as an internal issue but it must be taken as a global issue. Let's take our step in saving the planet earth, making the planet a better place to live again for all the future generations to come.
