HELP ! Volunteering Geelong to keep its doors open

Volunteers deserve better !
Volunteering Geelong is the first point of call for over 160 local charities and not-for-profit organisations with volunteering estimated to inject more than $140 million across the G21 region.
We cannot put local experience and knowledge at risk and undermine the passionate and thriving volunteer culture in our community.
As of July 2021, Volunteering Geelong will no longer receive a direct grant from the Federal Government to cover essential operational and program costs. Instead, funds will be diverted to the state-based volunteer body that will control how the money is prioritised and distributed across Victoria.
The redirection of funds to state-based peaks has been undertaken without any program guidelines or an implementation plan, leaving all community based volunteer resource centres across Australia in the dark and unsure of their futures.
It is vital for the community to put its support behind Volunteering Geelong as we call on the Federal Government and Volunteering Victoria to not shut the door on community volunteering.
