Students at the University of Arizona are subjected to actions and words of hate daily. Walking to class with friends should not include being harassed. Not only are women being harassed but people of different races and religions are being slandered and stereotyped, as are women for the way we dress. Individuals are also being harassed due to their sexual orientation. Hateful things such as "You deserve rape!" "God doesn't love Muslims" and "All gays are going to hell!" are shouted at students who are trying to peacefully go about their day. Police officers and several Dean of Students stood by as these men wrongly singled out me and dozens of other people, claiming that there is nothing that can be done for it is their right (Freedom of Speech). I believe that it is absolutely unacceptable and if enough people agree, we can make a change and remove these people from our campus.
