Friend,
In the last few days, more than 788 families have been evacuated in the Philippines due to flooding.
But one woman stayed behind.
Because the dogs inside the shelter — AWIP’s rescued dogs — had nowhere else to go.
This is the place we take them after we pull them from the dog meat trade.
It’s meant to be safe. Quiet. Healing.
But now, it’s flooding.
The floor is soaked. Supplies are wet. Stormwater is rising all around the shelter.
And the woman caring for the dogs?
She’s still there.
Alone.
She refuses to evacuate because she won’t leave the animals behind — our dogs, the ones we’ve rescued from trafficking, abuse, and slaughter.
She stayed with them. Through the rain. Through the rising water.
Because she believes they matter.

She refuses to evacuate because she won’t leave the animals behind — our dogs, the ones we’ve rescued from trafficking, abuse, and slaughter.
She knows what they’ve been through. She’s seen the scars. The fear. The way some of them still flinch at human touch.
She was there when we brought them in — weak, silent, broken.
And she’s the one who’s been helping them learn how to be dogs again.
Now? They’re standing in floodwater. Shivering on raised concrete. Terrified all over again.
If the water rises any higher, they’ll have nowhere dry to go.
If the storms worsen, parts of the shelter could collapse.
And if she’s left to face it all alone — without help, without backup — we could lose the only safe place these dogs have ever known.
She’s doing everything she can. But she’s just one person. She hasn’t left. She won’t leave. Because she knows: no one else is coming.

When we rescued these animals, we promised them safety.
Now we need to make good on that promise.
She’s doing her part. Please do yours, Friend.
For all animals,

P.S. These dogs escaped slaughter — only to face disaster. She’s still standing with them. Sign now to show her she’s not standing alone.
