Hello, supporters!

It has been several days since my last update, but this is an important one, so please read through! We’ve had a couple important new developments. Firstly, we reached an important milestone! We exceeded 5,000 signatures and are now well on our way to 7,000.

Rachael Travis and I, a couple of Kentucky moms, are working tirelessly for this cause. We are organizing a Facebook group to better connect with supporters. We can coordinate strategy and give more regular updates there. You can request to join the Facebook group here. Please be patient with us while we make this page an active and effective tool. We are both busy moms! We have started using the hashtag #KYVirtual. This will connect people to our group and is an additional way to unify and, subsequently, amplify our voices. Please utilize this hashtag in all your social media posts!

Yesterday afternoon, I gave an interview with Channel 44 news. You can watch the interview here. Included in the transcript is a link directly to the petition. Please share this media link with others and use social media to your advantage. We are uniting and amplifying voices!

Omitted from the televised portion of my interview, is the fact that I am a certified TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) educator, and I exclusively teach using an online platform. In fact, I was interviewing virtually from my home virtual classroom! I see the value of virtual education each evening when I teach young children who live across the globe. It is absolutely an effective teaching tool and should be an option available to our students.

No reason sufficiently justifies arbitrarily withholding this option from certain students. Each family considers unique factors and prioritizes differently. These are extraordinary times indeed! We are perpetually inundated with news - our societies are saturated with rampant misinformation, conflicting information, and ever-evolving guidance. Our state policy makers and school districts must recognize the vast scope of needs and help meet them with reasonable accommodations - making a virtual option available is a solution that can be reasonably implemented.

Thank you so much for following along and standing in the gap!

Best,

AR McCrady
