Hello, all:
I am thrilled this petition has successfully gained traction. It has resonated with other parents, grandparents, friends, etc., evidencing the very real need of so many families throughout the Commonwealth.
We received more signatures today than any previous day! At certain points, we were averaging five signatures a minute! This petition was started in a small city in western Kentucky by a frustrated momma (me! ♀️) who simply was advocating for her kids! With the help of some resourceful friends and family we got this going… and then you all stepped up and carried the story to the rest of the state! THANK YOU! I see quite clearly now that the need is great, indeed.
Since we last talked, a Louisville news station has reached out and would like to cover this push. I’m working on connecting with them. We just surpassed 3,500 signatures. I’d love to have 5,000 tomorrow. We can do this! Our community of signees is growing rapidly, so I want to circle with a few basic ways to work toward this:
1) SHARE the petition. Once you’ve signed, send it on to others. Add a comment when you share to illustrate the real need. A personal experience will connect with others and result in more signatures.
2) Chip in with even a small donation - these dollars boost the post’s visibility, resulting in more signatures.
3) Comment the link every opportunity you have. Lots of news stations and school districts are posting relevant material. Other families have similar concerns. Post and comment anytime it’s helpful. We have received the most signatures from commenting on the live videos Governor Beshear shares on Facebook. Thanks to all who have joined us! We are glad you’re here.
Lastly, I urge each of you to hold our school boards, elected officials, educators, and fellow citizens close to heart. In a time wrought with conflict, division, and confusion, please choose to engage peacefully and kindly. I am praying a virtual option soon becomes available for all Kentucky students who want one. This shouldn’t be a divisive issue, but so many others are. The heaviness and pressure we all feel is real and I’m praying for each of you, too, as we weigh our options and try to take care of our own and others.
Take Care,
AR McCrady
