I called the marketplace today to see if they had run my ten year old's eligibility as I was instructed to do from my last phone call. This representative informs me that I have to send in my 2017 2040 again as income verification for my ten year old son because as of July 17, the eligibility was run again without income documents. I find this amusing as my income shouldn't mean diddly squat for my son because I didn't claim him, his father did. I informed her that I just spoke with someone on Monday and they said nothing regarding this and said his eligibility hadn't been run because the letter I wrote stating that his father and I support him financially hadn't been verified. Another error on their part! She got snippy with me at that point and I asked to speak with a supervisor. She said she could put one on but the only way my son will get his eligibility run is if I send in more documents. I pretty much lost it at that point. I informed her that this was all their error, they dropped him in error, I get conflicting information from every representative I speak to and I absolutely refuse to send in any more documentation! I flat out told her they had better fix it or I'm getting a lawyer and will have them deal with that. I will go to the media and the governor and anyone else who will listen. I told her that I am a Medicaid provider and an RN and have an understanding of how insurance and eligibility works and there is absolutely NO way that everyone else in my home has had their eligibility run and now has health insurance but my ten year old still does not because they want more income documents! Obviously they have all the income documents they need or they would not have been able run the rest of our eligabilities! We all have health insurance except my ten year old! Totally their fault and I'm not getting off this phone until they fix it. She puts me in hold to get a supervisor and several minutes go by and she gets back on. She informs me she is still waiting for a supervisor to become available but that she escalated my income documents so they can run my son's eligibility now. All I could say at that point without being completely disrespectful was, "If you knew you could do that, why didn't you do that before I had a mini melt down? ". I'm just beside myself with this whole thing. It is absolutely ridiculous, illegal and totally unfair. If August comes and he still doesn't have insurance, we will have to pay out of pocket for his medications again and this time it will be well over $500.00 because he will need his other inhaler. I've already had to cancel one doctors appointment and he has one in August with his allergist that he simply can not miss. His pulmonary functions are not good and we've been following his allergist closely regarding this to see if he needs further testing, a change in medication again or a referral to a pulmonologist. With basically only my finances income coming in, we can not afford to pay for our son's health care needs out of pocket which is why I'm always on top of getting us renewed, paying premiums, etc. Please help me spread the word about what the NY State of Health marketplace has done so we can make them change the way they do things so this doesn't ever happen again to anyone! Please sign my petition for my son and every other family that is going through this. Please share my petition with your family and friends.
