Don't trash the Adirondacks. Stop storage of oil tanker railcars in the Forest Preserve.

The Issue

We need your help to stop a bad plan to bring thousands of out-of-service oil tanker rail cars to the Adirondack Park where they will be stored indefinitely on a remote dead-end railroad track that traverse the public Forest Preserve. Iowa Pacific Holdings has already started to bring in these old rail cars and storing them on old railroad tracks deep in the forests on the banks of the Boreas River and could eventually be stored on the banks of the Hudson River. This terrible and poorly thought-out-plan threatens the environmental health and wilderness character of the Adirondack Park in northern New York -- the last great wilderness area in the Northeast USA. The Adirondack Park is the place that millions depend upon for wild, beautiful outdoor recreational experiences. We need to let Governor Andrew Cuomo know that thousands of people across New York and the U.S. who love the Adirondack Park, and depend upon it for wild experiences, are opposed to using the Forest Preserve as a junkyard and trashing the Adirondacks. Take action now and help stop this bad idea.
