STOP the unsafe, polluting plastics to oil refinery, now!

FOY Group propose to build an oil refinery at Hume, Australian Capital Territory and we are very concerned about the proximity to houses, schools, childcare centres and workplaces.
The refinery would use a catalytic cracking process - super heating various plastics to extremely high temperatures - to produce oil in the form of fuels and fugitive (bad) emissions.
This will remove the recyclable plastics from the circular economy and negatively impact greenhouse gas emissions targets, of multiple different Australian states including New South Wales (NSW), Victoria (VIC) and Queensland (QLD), as the source plastics are transported long distances cross-border to bypass their more stringent policies.
It is unsafe and was rejected by New South Wales Environment Protection Authority, stating a lack of environmental and human health safeguards from this unproven technology.
We will not accept that this is “recycling” plastics. It is destructive (leading to massive carbon emissions through the transportation, processing & burning of the fuel products) and undermines existing and future reuse and recycling.
You need to take action, STOP this project and protect those that voted you in to your office to "use the powers of office responsibly and in the interests of the people of the ACT" per your Ministerial Code of Conduct.
