Letter to the City of Duncan.
Many seniors and residents of the area have already gone through much change and incredible loss, these past 2 years. Experiencing too much trauma and deep loneliness, for some even seeing their loved ones pass unexpectedly. May I appeal to your hearts and for the caring of others.
Let this not be one more example of disruption and disregard for compassion, understanding and caring. Let this long last tree continue to be the example of stability, respect for the aging and the grandeur of nature that is consistent, secure and nurturing.
Please save this gorgeous Cedar. It's an old friend for many, it's loss would be a huge blow to the neighbourhood. No new tree can replace the environmental, health and emotional benefits as the huge canopy that this very active carbon sink already does.
This grand and beautiful tree (and amazing carbon sink) is one of the Hallmarks of 1st and Jubilee. A guardian and greeter for those walking to and from the Centennial park. A home for birds and squirrels, a shade and rain cover for the seniors that come out to sit underneath.
Duncan was a town that grew up around it many people in the area value it's presence. Now for the sake of a few new buildings it is ancient life is to be ended - to only be replaced by something not better just newer and younger. What a metaphor.... Please do not destroy this tree! May your choices in life be for the benefits of the residents, the people that live here - not just the corporations that come and go.
Please email your thoughts and concerns to Duncan City Hall and Plante Home Development.
Thank you! And regardless of their decision - please be kind.
