Make voting in the QLD council elections in 2020 non compulsory by Friday 27th March 2020

The issue

The Australian way of life has been decimated as a measure to contain the spread of COVID-19. People have lost jobs, businesses, livelihoods and everything they have spent their lives working for. Streets are deserted, businesses decimated, and supermarkets raided of every perishable and non-perishable good imaginable. The Federal Government has imposed a progressive shutdown that appears that will be severe and far reaching and it will cripple our country - potentially justifiably.

And yet the Electoral Commission of Queensland flouts these rules. Ignoring all advice they are "pushing ahead" with local council elections on Saturday 28th March 2020.

Guys, this is like something out of a movie.

Just as we are feeling like we are getting control of this virus, we go and put a whole load of people together in one place, especially our vulnerable older QLDers, using the same pencils to use on voting papers, and the virus goes BANG!

Anastasia - stop this madness now.

Tell the ECQ to pull it's head in.

Rely on the existing postal, phone and pre poll votes.

Cancel Saturday's council elections, and reply on votes already cast to determine the winners.

Do this for the health and livelihood of all QLDers - or risk a class action again the Electoral Commission.

We have 24 hours to do this guys - let's get 1 million signatures!
