The Issue

Dear Mr. President,

We, the South Sudanese women in the United States and worldwide, are deeply concerned about Sudan's ongoing conflict and human rights violations, particularly the violence and atrocities committed against civilians, including women and children. We urge you to take immediate action to support efforts to stop the fighting and deliver the necessary humanitarian assistance to the people of Sudan.

The situation in Sudan is dire and requires urgent attention from the international community. The ongoing violence has inflicted an enormous security and humanitarian toll on civilians and hinders the transition to democracy, which threatens the stability of the country and the region. Women and girls are particularly vulnerable to sexual violence, forced displacement, and other forms of abuse.

We call upon you to use your influence and resources to support diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in Sudan by engaging with the warring parties in coordination with regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, to find a peaceful and just resolution to the conflict. We also urge you to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict.

The United States has a unique role in ending the conflict in Sudan and promoting peace and stability in the region. We urge you to take action to safeguard the aspirations of the Sudanese people for a democratic transition that would lead to the formation of a civilian-led government that translates the slogan of freedom, peace, and justice into reality.
