The Issue

Most Americans—regardless of political party—agree on one thing: people who want vaccines should be able to get them.

Whether it’s COVID, the flu, or routine childhood immunizations like measles and mumps, the overwhelming majority believe access should be easier, not harder. That is according to a new CBS News poll.

Also revealed there that Americans increasingly believe that Kennedy’s policies are making it harder to get vaccines—not easier.

But under Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., vaccine availability appears to be heading in the wrong direction.

This isn’t about mandates. It’s about access.

Parents want the freedom to protect their kids. Seniors want to stay safe during flu season. Everyday Americans want the option to get vaccinated—without obstacles, political interference, or mixed messages from federal officials.

RFK Jr. came into office promising to restore public trust in health institutions. But rolling back approvals, canceling vaccine advisory boards, and cutting programs that reach underserved communities sends the opposite message. It makes vaccines more politicized—not more trustworthy.

We need leadership that reflects the will of the people. And the people are clear: make vaccines available to those who want them.

We are calling on Secretary Kennedy to:

  • Commit publicly to expanding access to CDC-recommended vaccines for all who choose them
  • Reinstate and fund programs that support vaccine outreach, especially in rural and underserved areas
  • Ensure that FDA and CDC decisions on vaccine access are made transparently and guided by science—not ideology
  • Stop using his position to cast doubt on vaccines that have been proven safe and effective.

The United States has the tools, the science, and the public support to keep people safe. What we need now is for our public health leadership to get out of the way of access.
