Amend U.S. Code § 2029 to Support Primary Caregivers of Disabled Family Members

The Issue

Having worked several years with families with children with disabilities, I witnessed firsthand the struggle to care for their disabled children while suffering from food insecurity, being shunned by society, stigmatized and discriminated against while having limited resources. To address this critical issue, we propose an amendment to U.S. Code § 2029 - Workfare policy.

Our amendment aims to expand the exemption criteria outlined in section (b) to include household members who are primary caregivers for family members with disabilities or chronic illnesses. Specifically, we recommend inserting the following after line (6): "(7) A household member who is a primary caregiver for a family member with a disability or chronic illness."

This change will provide much-needed relief and support for families already facing significant challenges. By recognizing the vital role of primary caregivers and exempting them from workfare requirements, we can help ensure they have access to essential resources without additional burdens.

Sign this petition if you believe in supporting our most vulnerable families and making necessary amendments to better serve those caring for loved ones with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
