537 signatures — and something important is happening

When I started this petition, it arose from my own experience of the barriers created by requirements for counselling training and placement hours to be completed face-to-face.
Since sharing it within counselling communities, something I hadn't anticipated has happened.
People have begun contacting me privately.
Disabled counselling students, trainees and qualified practitioners have shared their own experiences of trying to meet face-to-face requirements when remote participation would have allowed them to train or practise safely and effectively. Others have described the personal cost of complying with requirements that they felt created unnecessary barriers because of disability.
I've also heard from people raising another important issue: geographical isolation. For trainees living in rural or island communities, access to suitable placements and sufficiently diverse client groups can itself become a significant barrier.
These are individual experiences, and everyone's circumstances are different. But the number and similarity of the accounts being shared with me are raising an increasingly important question:
Is this really an individual problem, or are we looking at a much wider accessibility issue within counselling training?
Yesterday this petition had 468 signatures. Today it has 537.
I am enormously grateful to everyone who has signed, shared it, or trusted me with their experience. Those personal accounts are helping me understand the wider picture in a way that a signature count alone never could.
